Crop an image online
Drag a box over the part you want to keep, or lock it to a square, portrait, landscape, wide or story shape. The box sits on a preview, but the cut is calculated on the full-size file, so the result stays as sharp as the original. Up to 10 images at a time, 20 MB each.
Common questions
- How do I crop an image?
- Drop the photo in, drag the corners of the box over the part you want to keep, and press Start. With an aspect ratio picked, the box keeps its shape while you drag it; on Free you can drag any shape.
- Which aspect ratios are there?
- Free, 1:1 square, 2:3 portrait, 3:2 landscape, 16:9 wide and 9:16 for stories. The ratios cover most social and print formats, and Free is there for everything else.
- Does cropping make the image smaller?
- The result has exactly the pixels the box covered; nothing is scaled, so a small box means a small picture. Everything outside the box is gone from the file you download, while the original on your device stays untouched.
- Will a phone photo come out sideways?
- No. The EXIF orientation is read first and the photo is turned upright before the box is applied, which is exactly what you see in the preview.
