Convert HEIC to PNG
Every program reads PNG, and it stores the picture without lossy compression, which suits screenshots, artwork and photos you still want to edit. Drop your HEIC files in and PNGs come back, upright and without EXIF. Up to 10 photos at a time, 20 MB each.
Common questions
- PNG or JPG for an iPhone photo?
- PNG keeps every pixel exactly and makes a much larger file, often several times the HEIC. For a photo you only want to share or upload, JPG is the better trade; use PNG when you will edit the picture again or need a transparent background.
- Why is the PNG so much bigger?
- HEIC compresses photos hard, while PNG is lossless and stores each pixel. A 3 MB HEIC turning into a 20 MB PNG is normal, not an error; convert to JPG or WebP if the size matters more than the last bit of detail.
- Is transparency kept?
- Yes. If the source has transparent areas, the PNG keeps them, where a JPG would fill them with white. Photos off an iPhone are usually fully opaque, so this matters mostly for screenshots and graphics.
- What happens to orientation and EXIF?
- The EXIF orientation is applied, so a photo taken in portrait stays in portrait instead of arriving on its side. The rest of the metadata, GPS included, is removed unless you tick the box to keep it.
