Convert HEIC to JPG
iPhones save photos as HEIC, a format Windows, older programs and many upload forms still refuse. Drop the files in and the same picture comes back as JPG, the right way up. Up to 10 photos at a time, 20 MB each.
Common questions
- What is a HEIC file?
- HEIC is the format iPhones have used for photos since iOS 11. It stores the same picture in roughly half the space of a JPG, but plenty of programs and websites still cannot read it, which is what makes converting worth the step.
- Does the photo lose quality?
- The photo is decoded once and written as JPG at quality 90, which is hard to tell from the original at normal viewing sizes. The pixels and the dimensions stay as they were; only the encoding changes.
- Is the location removed?
- Yes, by default: EXIF and GPS are dropped, so the JPG no longer says where the photo was taken or with what. Tick “Keep EXIF and GPS data” if you need them, for a photo archive for example.
- Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?
- Up to 10 per run, 20 MB each, and several photos come back as one zip. Without an account you get 20 operations a day; a free account lifts that limit and adds 10 credits for the AI studio.
